Bear River drew post 9 for Saturday’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) at Del Mar as he tries to extend his winning streak to three stakes races.
In his most recent start, the 4-year-old went gate-to-wire on the lead to win the Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint (G2), defeating a top-class field. Prior to that race, Bear River took the preview for that race at Ellis Park in the Kentucky Downs Preview Turf Sprint.
With $1,698,823 in earnings for owner Charles Marquis, Bear River is Flameaway lifetime leading earner. Bear Rive was bred in Kentucky by Dreamfields Farm, Don Brady & Brendan Burke.
The Turf Sprint is race 5 on Saturday and will run at 3:41 pm ET.
Flameaway has had another banner year thus far and is in the top five on the Third-Crop sire list. Darby Dan recently announced his 2026 fee at $10,000 S&N.
